Cyber Liability Insurance

Your other policies have
a cyberattack exclusion.
Cyber liability fills the gap.

Ransomware, data breaches, and phishing attacks hit small businesses harder than corporations โ€” and your BOP, GL, and property policies explicitly exclude them. Cyber liability is the policy that modern businesses can't afford to skip.

Why It Matters
Small businesses are the
#1 target for cyberattacks.
๐Ÿ”

60% of Small Businesses Close Within 6 Months of a Cyberattack

The average data breach costs a small business $200,000+ in notification, legal, remediation, and lost revenue costs. No other business risk has grown faster in the last decade โ€” and most businesses are dramatically underinsured.

Your Other Policies Don't Cover This

GL, BOP, and commercial property policies explicitly exclude cyber incidents. Without a standalone cyber policy, a ransomware attack or data breach can wipe out your entire business โ€” uncovered.

FAQ
Questions answered.
Does my BOP or GL policy cover cyberattacks? +
No. Standard BOP and GL policies contain explicit cyber exclusions. A cyberattack, ransomware infection, or data breach is not covered by any standard business property or liability policy. Standalone cyber insurance is required.
My business is small โ€” am I really a target? +
Yes. 43% of all cyberattacks specifically target small businesses, primarily because they have less security than enterprises. Criminals use automated tools that scan for vulnerabilities at scale โ€” your size doesn't protect you.
What triggers a cyber insurance claim? +
A ransomware attack locking your systems, a data breach exposing customer information, an employee wiring funds after a phishing email, a DDoS attack shutting down your website, or a notification that your data was found on the dark web.
How much does cyber insurance cost? +
For most small businesses, standalone cyber policies start around $500โ€“$1,500/year. The cost depends on your industry, revenue, number of records held, and existing security practices. Healthcare and financial services tend to pay more.
What does cyber insurance NOT cover? +
Intentional acts, pre-existing breaches, and in some cases, nation-state attacks. It also typically won't cover the cost of upgrading your security after a breach (though it will cover restoration). Read your policy carefully โ€” we'll explain every exclusion.
Can I add cyber to my BOP instead of buying a separate policy? +
Many carriers now offer cyber endorsements as BOP add-ons, which can be cost-effective for low-risk businesses. However, the limits and coverage breadth are often much lower than a standalone policy. We'll compare both options for you.
